What's in pilot markers makes them smell like almonds?
We use Pilot Super Color refillable Permanent Markers at work and when you use the ink smells strongly of what was described as almonds – which are not toxic, do not contain xylene and is advised to use them in a ventilated area. Someone has any idea what causes the smell?
The most likely is an ester that is used as solvent for the dye used in the ink of the marker.
