Plasma Retractable

Plasma Retractable

carpenters? handymen? cabinet fame project.?

I’m envisioning a cabinet with doors that slide, rather than open. It’s imperative that rather than a conventional swinging door that this particular project have 2 doors that slide apart.

I have a 50in plasma TV that I’m hoping to “hide” in my room. I want it concealed by a plain thick frame with doors that slide apart to clear the way for the tv to be extended out from once opened (essentially a thin cabinet, minus the back pannel). I’m trying to find my options

I’m clearly not the most savi in this division. Is there a type of collapsible/retractable track that might solve my problem? Keep in mind that I’m not a carpenter and hardly a handy man although this is a project that I’m eager to tackle.

Where do I start and where would I go?
…and I’m not looking to have doors that fold. I’d like them to slide out until they’re on both sides of the cabinet.

Too easy. You just need to make sure that your “face frame” has a groove or rabbet. If each of your 2 doors is say 20″ then your frame would be 80″ wide with a groove slightly wider than door thickness.
Hope this helps!
