Where there Blue Pens during the WWII era?
For history class we have to pretend we are a war reporter overseas and I chose to write a journal, where there blue pens or should I stick to black? Or pencil?
Sorry if this s a stupid question, but I want it to be authentic.
What’s more interesting than your question, and is really an offshoot of your question, is what TYPE of pens were used by journalists covering the war. Ball Point Pens had been developed (around 1935) but probably weren’t reliable. Reliable pens didn’t appear till after WW II. The first mass market Ball Point Pen occured in 1945, the year the war ended. But early pens had a reputation for skipping, going dry too son, and just not performing well.
A reporter during the war probably would have used a ball Point Pen or even a pencil. He would probably have used a standard Fountain Pen, and certainly there were inks in blue. Colored inks have been around for a long time.
