Vista PC calls pen drive when it comes to setting a new password?
My mom has stopped working password when you try to log in Vista after booting. By clicking to reset it, it says I need to connect a pen drive or floppy disk. (Neither I have with me – anyway, I can not see how this helps!). Has anyone seen this before?
The first answer was correct in asserting that the pen drive is an option you have to create a "Password reset disk." This basically stores information on an external drive that allows you to authenticate your identity if you forget your password. Unfortunately, with Vista, there's not much you can do once you forget your password, except to remove the current account and create a new one. Even in this situation, the password of your mother is not working, the same scenario applies. However, I noticed that after I leave the computer sleep or hibernate for long periods of time, my password does not work (I also use Vista.) Alternatively, if I restart my computer after letting him sleep or hibernate for a long time my password will resume normal operation of the computer. Could this be the case with the password to your mother?
