Should I go to class more difficult or easier classes in high school?
I go to a school very difficult and I am very smart let say. I have purchased in a class all of my middle school career, except in Mathematics. I've been in a higher class and I think it's a little late to the back and have gotten behind under B and C in that category. Now, I'm going to high school and am not sure if I should be in the honors class or class speed (fast is the easiest). I signed up for honors, but I have the upper classes in grade, along with sports and things outside of school, I'm not sure I can handle it. But very, very, VERY much like to go to an Ivy League. I am convinced that the only difference between honors and accelerated the workload (with honors have a heavier and I'm pretty sure it's only understanding I do not understand). I'm planning to get a tutor if I stay with the class of honors, but I really do not know what go with. Input, please?
As a teacher of Pre-Advanced Placement students in ninth grade, my advice is to treat the most difficult class. In early years, I feel that my classes that students who are unsure whether or not an advanced class is for them or not, but most choose to commit themselves to work (and not, does not necessarily mean more work — more suggestive or analytical, yes, but not necessarily) and remain on the course. My school has a "test" policy that allows students to try the class for the first marking period and is not working, then the student is welcome to move to a level ("regular") on-level/regular class for class (not weighted Pre-AP/AP credit for that semester). Students are there to stay semester or for the remainder of the course. Call the school registrar or guidance counselor and ask what the school policy is. It would also be useful to ask how more advanced classes are weighted by their GPA. Advanced classes often have more weight, so despite the fact that students in less challenging class earned an "A" and obtained a "B" in the most difficult, then it is likely that the weight / count as a point "A" – on top of that degree you've learned — more too. It is likely that this information is in print or in the student handbook, or if not, ask the secretary or counselor if you can come and pick up a copy or find a copy online. Also, call or contact the admissions office of the university (s) that interest you and let them know that you would like hear your suggestions on how applicants can help themselves to become future students there. They might be able to give some guidance regarding your decision to take honors or accelerated classes (just make sure it is clear to explain the difference between the two which is not a "easier" when you explain — which is where the course description information from your school can be helpful.)
