Pros and cons at Fort Lewis?

Anyone with experience stationed in Fort Lewis, please give me any positive or negative. Or if you live in Tacoma, Fort Lewis and surrounding area, please let me know. My husband and I are trying to find out what to do when I come back to recruit. So we are doing our research about the places we are considering.

Fort Lewis military base is not bad, but some of the surrounding areas are terrible. Stelicum Washington northwest of the base is very nice (but not cheep). The foundation offers housing in a small town south called Tillicum Washington. Tillicum is the ULTIMATE landfill. I will do my best to describe accurately. Basically, Tillicum comprises buildings that appear in built in the 50s (I like old buildings, but not if they fall apart). As I recall, many military stores open for business, he and a motel / restaurant teriyaki. Not to mention all the garbage lying on the side of the road. I can tell you first hand some of the areas bordering the south base are depressing. Only a dirty dirty area. Defiant stay in the north side of the base. Stelicum. that would be the best possible place to live, or Lakewood, which also is not very large. If you want to raise children in the near future, Stelicum is your best shot. Beyond all around the base, Stelicum is the only city to feel through safe driving. Good luck

Plan Your Fort Lauderdale Real Estate Purchase Effectively

Planning is an important aspect of home-buying. You must approach the process systematically instead of entering it head on. This will help you avoid costly mistakes and get you near your dream home. The first step is to understand your readiness for homeownership. And when you’re planning to purchase a Fort Lauderdale real estate property, here is a simple list of things to help keep you on the right track.

Renting vs. Buying

These two are the most important considerations before entering the Fort Lauderdale real estate market. Fort Lauderdale, like other cities in the country, is teeming with plenty of real-estate choices. There is nothing wrong with choosing homeownership over apartment or condo, but with today’s market, the choice might not be feasible to many. So, before deciding to purchase a home, make sure you’ve understood the pros and cons of both renting and buying.

A good way to start is by viewing your current lifestyle. There are plenty of factors involved in owning a Fort Lauderdale real estate property. For starters, you have to maintain a job in order to continuously and regularly pay for the mortgage. There are also maintenance issues you must face in order to keep the house in shape. This combined with the responsibility of ensuring your financial health can be daunting.

On the other hand, renting is also not a walk in the park either. Problems with the lease can occur, and breaking from it will be difficult especially mid-lease. Furthermore, landlord-related headaches are common. And if you’re not too keen about living with other people closely, the setting might not be one for you.

Always consider your options

Part of planning a purchase or rent is the options. Whether you’re buying a property or renting one, you must know that there will be options available for you. For instance, if you want to score a dirt-cheap rent, sacrificing some of your needs will open up a whole slew of available apartments. The same is also true if you prefer to rent a home. Aside from apartments, the city offers plenty of traditional single and multi-family homes available for leasing.

When it comes to owning a home, however, there are several foreclosures in the Fort Lauderdale real estate market. These properties are often the most affordable ones in the market. But with their costs come great risks, which you should also learn how to face. So, regardless of the property you’re about to choose, the best laid plan will always help you achieve your goals. Cover all your bases and you’ll breeze right through the home-buying or renting process.
