Decreased drug sales force Rep: What does for Pharma Reps
The headlines are full of redundancies pharmaceutical company. The big pharmaceutical companies like Merck, Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and others are drastically reducing the numbers of pharmaceutical sales rep. It is partly as response to a market economy and efficiency requires optimized, and partly a response to the evolving needs of physicians. The doctors are very limited for visits by health visitors, and those who still do often require appointments. Doctors are rebelling against over-saturation in sales calls and 'Canned' sales pitches from a less traditional sales force trained in the science of production and more focused on 'gifts'.
There jobs pharmaceutical sales are still found, but the candidates for jobs are competing with thousands of representatives of other pharmaceutical looking to replace lost jobs.
So what should you do?
- Paul Hartigan's article " A Healthy Future in Pharmaceutical Sales? "It offers some good advice to those still considering a career as a pharmaceutical sales representative: to provide special attention to research the company you are considering working. As to its product line, market analysis, and how they treat their employees to see if a company with a future for you.
- Be aware of how companies are reinventing the role of sales representative. Doctors are demanding a representative of a greater knowledge, an expert on the product rather than a supply of sales happened-with-lunch-system. This requires a solid in science and technology of what you're selling, and adaptability to a sales approach that includes change of Internet-based product detailing. Know what the market is moving, and find out what different companies are doing to comply with the changes.
- If you want to be in the field of pharmaceutical sales is more important than ever to pack yourself as a top candidate category. Get a career coach, the forms of research Selected candidates get into medical sales and use-of-the-box outside and the techniques for 30/60/90-day sales plans .
- If you have decided that the category of pharmaceutical sales is not for you, the same advice applies, but more. The conventional wisdom is that medical are at the lower end of the spectrum of medical sales representative, for a couple of reasons: (1) the lack of science background of most sales pharmaceutical representatives, and (2) sales model does not include pharmaceutical sales closure "to other sales areas required. This makes it difficult for some representatives of the transition in other areas of pharmaceutical sales reps, but not impossible.
