Believe it or not, to be a successful analyst or any other IT professionals, having good technical skills will only make you an average employee. The key is interpersonal skills. You are 100x more valuable to the company if you can think strategically just like a CEO does, and be able to communicate simply (especially in explaining the technical stuff) and effectively to your boss how IT can help the company growth. If you have time, take some general business courses. A lot of IT professionals even go as far as getting an MBA as a second degree. Good luck.
